Celebrating the Strawberry Moon

What would you expect the Strawberry Ladies of Luvable Sweets and Fine Chocolates to think of the Strawberry Moon.

Of course, we love making chocolate-dipped strawberries, so the last supermoon of 2021, The Strawberry Moon, is of interest to Luvable Sweets and Fine Chocolates. It is called the strawberry moon because it signaled to some Native American tribes that harvesting time had approached; the time of the year to gather the ripening strawberries.

When I think of strawberries, my mind immediately remembers visiting the ice cream trucks. My dollar waddled up in my sweaty hands. I would always buy the same thing; Good Humour Strawberry Shortcake bars. I can still taste that sweet mix of strawberry gelatin and the crunch of the cookie crumble. Mmm. The memories.

I have always loved the taste of strawberries. My first introduction was Faygo Red Pop. However, when I think of strawberries, I think of this past Halloween. Luvable Sweets and Fine Chocolates had a large order for our strawberries stuffed with cheesecake. We make every offering fresh, so I was up late making the strawberries. At 4:00 am the mind goes, and you really start getting hungry. I think I did more taste-testing than preparing. But fortunately, I can say….our Stuffed Strawberries are delicious.

It’s that time again. The Strawberry Moon means it’s strawberry season. Of course, I am partial to our chocolate-dipped strawberries. However, when I think of strawberries, I think of visiting the neighborhood candy store to purchase Strawberry Bon Bons. If you are older than 50, you probably remember the hard candies wrapped in the strawberry papers. It was red with the pit dots and had green on the top for the leaves. I remember buying 5 Bon Bons for 5 cents. Obviously, that is unheard of now.
